Many are the times when you cross edges with the boss in the office and soon after you start getting thoughts of looking for other options, the most dominant one being how you are going to work at home. It is usually a nice idea but only if conducted in an orderly manner, and after following some obvious guidelines. Don't allow yourself to be tempted to think that it is as easy as it sounds.
Make a point of honoring the promises you make to clients. Just assume that you are a client and have given somebody some work to do for you. The work in itself is required over sometime to be able to be used for some other purpose. Then you come to realize that the work has not even been attempted, leave alone completed. The feeling that comes across is that of the person you gave the work is quite unreliable. That is what happens when you work at home and fail to meet the given deadlines. You mess the client up so much that they lose confidence in you.
When assigned work, ensure that you deliver it in its best form. This means that the fact that you work at home under minimal supervision does not guarantee you to come up with shoddily done assignments. The quality of what you produce should act as a sign that you can do better. This will go a long way in winning the client's confidence such that they may even recommend you to other clients when need arises.
Simply because you happen to be the boss of your own self is not reason to disregard what the client instructs you to do. The simple and right thing for you to do is work at home, follow the instructions given and then move on. Many are the times when those working from home disregard the client's specifications on how he wants the work done, on the flimsy basis that if he should have wanted the work done according to his specifications, then he should have done it himself. Well, do shoddy work and lose out on the cash. How does that sound?
esearch has shown that most workers are in the jobs they are in simply because they just had to do something. Those who work at home is not exempted either. But the little and most obvious reason to a successful business is simply enjoying whatever you are doing. Forget about how small it is and focus on how big it is destined to be and you will see how far it goes. Learn to enjoy your work even though you work at home and you aren't being picked up by that prestigious company bus.
